Abstract:

Miami University uses anthropology, geography, history, political science, and economics in the teaching of international studies. Teaching about Asia in international studies requires discussion of the diversity of Asian culture, the longevity of Asian history, the scale of Asian geography, the economic power of Asia and the political transitions of Asia. Examples used in teaching are primarily from China based on twenty years of fieldwork in China and fifteen years in teaching introduction studies.
