CONNECTED LEARNING: THEORY IN ACTION
ABSTRACT
The ability to continuously learn with others in the workplace is critical for
individuals and organizations in the current environment of rapid change.
Connected learning explores how the individual and community intersect. It is
operationally defined as learning that occurs within individuals as they
intentionally come together with others in the context of work to collectively
examine their practice, share in decision-making or problem solving, develop
shared goals, and perform meaningful work. Constructivist grounded theory
guided the development of this emerging theoretical framework which suggests
an approach for learning with others to achieve both personal and collective
goals.
