Mapping Systems of Juvenile Justice by Place, Participant Characteristics, and Expert-Systems of Knowledge

Abstract:

I extend the concept of crime mapping to examine systems of juvenile justice. Such systems include public and private forms of treating troubled juveniles. I examine the density of treatment in terms of place, the characteristics of participants located in particular jurisdictions, and the availability of expert systems of knowledge. I further hypothesize that contemporary conditions of modernity should weight the significance of expert-systems of knowledge.
