Publication Type: Abstract Abstract: Natural amenity-rich areas have been experiencing dramatic change during the last three decades. This change is, in part, reflected by the rapid growth associated with the in-migration of seasonal residents. Past studies evidenced the existing differences between permanent and seasonal residents and its effects on the social dimensions of such communities. Of particular interest for this study are seasonal and permanent residents attachments to their area. In order to increase our understanding of the factors associated with community attachment in amenity-rich areas, we incorporated measures of place in our model. Our findings suggested that place factors are important predictors of an individuals community attachment for both permanent and seasonal residents. This study merged concepts borrowed from the community and place literature while evidencing its importance for increasing our understanding of humans behavior.
