Abstract:
|
The attempt of this essay will be to explore the progress made in social science research regarding the suggestions and projections made by Holz and Wright. This essay will explore the five areas highlighted by the Holz and Wright research investigation. This work will explore the ways media theory has developed according to these specific points of discussion made by Holz and Wright for social science investigation. To examine some of the ways the discipline has progressed in addition to new speculations and insights regarding media theory as a theoretical premise, as well as an experimental apparatus. Within each of the five discussions I will attempt to introduce theoretical presuppositions largely held by media studies, as well as some current research being conducted to measure and test the validity of the theoretical work. |

| John Balzarini Progress in Media Theory and Mass Communication Studies Although this field of study is actively pursued by many researchers a coherent theory eludes the pursuits of social scientists. The multitude of information theoretical assumptions and methodologies lend themselves as detractors for debate which ultimately inhibit key proponents of a salient theory to surface (Benson 1993). Much of what is regarded as media theory can be generally pursued within the paradigm explaining the media as a social institution |
