Abstract:

While American society has come a long way in its understanding of issues related to sexual violence, misperceptions of victims and the impact of sexual assault continues to persist. Research has shown that sexual assault remains one of the most underreported crimes in the nation. This paper explores the cultural issues associated with non-disclosure of sexual assault among young African American women.
