SECTION ONE Statement of the Issue In order for teacher education units to discern quality effectively an efficient assessment system should be in place that parallels a systematic process for guiding program coordinators through accountability processes such as NCATE accreditation self-study program reviews institutional accreditation and unit effectiveness reviews. In addition this assessment system and support process for coordinators should be aligned and should include multiple points for data collection and entry/review (Vaughn Everhart Sharpe & Shimmel 2000). This

Finally participants will brainstorm how to take results found in a sample section (diversity) of an institutional report and program report and determine what changes should be made and how those changes should be documented. Methods The session will be divided so that the background of the issue will be discussed prior to showing an innovative program accountability system complete with tables and matrices. Then a support process for coordinators will be described and discussed with participants. Finally
