Abstract:

This paper reports some preliminary findings from a victimization survey on white-collar crime among 543 Swiss firms. The project seeks to apprehend white-collar crime as a series of offences committed by the employees inside a firm, by fraud or deceit, aiming at an illegitimate enrichment. The study also tries to answer to some questions related to white-collar crime as it occurs in Swiss firms by identifying a variety of risk factors as well as some prevention strategies. One of the aims of the study is to observe the correlation between the white-collar crime victimization rate and the different risk factors in the firms such as the activity sector, the number of employees, the annual turnover and the presence or absence of surveillance system in the firm.
