Abstract:

The National Study of the Changing Workforce is used to examine levels of work-family fit and life satisfaction of male workers. The results of this study partially support the hypotheses that self-employment is associated with improved work-family fit and increased life satisfaction, mainly through increased work-family facilitation. These results indicate that work-family fit is more than the absence of conflict, and that work-family facilitation needs to be investigated in more detail.
