Abstract:
|
The goal of this paper is to test the status attainment model with 1970s data and current data and compare and contrast the results from the current dataset with the results from the earlier dataset. The model developed in this paper is based on the Blau-Duncan model and Wisconsin Model established during the 1960s and 1970s. Even though the status attainment model has been extended and developed through many studies, little literature has compared the results from models in the 1970s with the results from current datasets. In this study, I use data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) in 1970 and 2001 to test the status attainment process, and further compare and contrast the results from these two different periods. OLS and structural equation models are used. |
