Abstract:
|
This paper investigates patterns of school choice within the system of Chicago Public High Schools. Much of the literature on school choice has focused on the question "who choose?". Surprisingly, very little systematic attention has been given to understanding the conditions under which an individual chooses to opt out of or stay in a particular school. This project explores how neighborhood and school characteristics may shape the decision to stay in or leave a neighborhood high school. Particular attention is paid to understanding the conditions which give rise to choice of enrollment in a career academy. |
