Developing Global Cultural Competence in School of Education Students: Optimizing the Study Abroad Course Experience My own experience with the development of global cultural competence began when I spent a year of sabbatical in Kaohsiung Taiwan. I brought my two children who were in 4th and 7th grade at the time. Prior to this experience I had complete only one international trip.
