Abstract:

This paper consists of two parts. First, the theoretical foundation and underlying assumption of the critical mass theory are discussed. Secondly, the use of the story of the critical mass theory will be discussed in relation to the recent widespread introduction of electoral gender quotas. What is the connection between the frequent use of quota provisions of 30 percent and the story of the critical mass theory?
