When do voters prefer to support public provision? These essential questions have captivated generations of academics and policy makers. Public goods considerations have become increasingly important in the US as federal and state governments struggle to balance budgetary demands against growing agendas. This tension is often felt in the area of conservation.
possible that some of the characteristics that set New Jersey apart as a forerunner in open space make it a unique case. Testing the hypotheses that have been presented here with out of sample data would further illuminate the variations in the provision and outcomes of open space initiatives.
