Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Review Method: Peer Reviewed Abstract: This paper examines whether differences among women's groups within the women's movement are as important as collective understandings of common good. I look at women's transnational collective action and focus on the differences among women's groups based on their social location. I compare women's organizing across three instances of transnational collective action: the global movement against gender violence, international women's health movement and the women's movement for economic justice. I ask how social group differences (in terms of race, class, nationality, sexuality and religion) among women restrain or facilitate women's collective action? |
