Abstract:
|
The Iraq war uncovers important aspects of the current phase of world politics. In this paper, attention is called especially on the American quest for a change in the leadership strategy of the global system, and the impact of this choice on the American coalition. Hegemonic theory of world politics is the overall theoretical framework of analysis of the paper. At the same time, the evolutionary world politics model is adopted to understand change in world politics. The sections in the first part of the paper analyze the prevention doctrine and the issue of external military intervention to change domestic regimes. In the second part of the paper, a set of concepts for the analysis of the government structure of the world political system is presented. They stand within the framework of the hegemonic theory and the evolutionary world politics model. In the last part of the paper, the potential effect of the United States attempt on the United Nations and transatlantic relations are analyzed. |
