Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Abstract: Qualitative research using six focus groups and grounded theory coding explored the functions African-American and White women attribute to their race and gender. Similarities and differences in themes raised regarding race and gender will be discussed, as well as the implications of the results for race relations and women’s well-being.
