The next was this: the lordship of love is evil because the more fidelity his faithful one bears him the more grave and pitiful are the tribulations he must endure. Dante Vita Nuova XIII And I am showing you further
lovers along similar paths and with similar and greater hardships seek to acquire their beloved. Equally in military affairs and in lover there is a necessity for secrecy trust and spiritedness: the dangers are equal and the outcome most of the time is similar. The soldier dies in a ditch the lover dies in desperation” (Clizia 12-13). Machiavelli suggests pathways and roads by which to understand the forces that erupt between people.
