This paper will present will present findings from offender surveys conducted for the National Adult Drug Court Evaluation. By November 2006, it is anticipated that baseline will be complete and six-month interviews will have been conducted with approximately half of study participants. Key findings from the baseline and six-month interviews will be presented, with analysis focusing on three primary topics: 1) Complete baseline statistics: a profile of offenders enrolled in the study in terms of demographics, personal history, criminal history, substance use, treatment history, and offender attitudes; 2) Drug court vs. comparison group participants: similarities and differences in baseline characteristics, matching plans and other strategies to address selection bias; 3) Initial outcomes: findings from the six-month survey with a focus on key outcomes, including substance use, substance abuse treatment, and violations of supervision or drug court conditions. |
