Abstract:

This case-study explores the criminal activity of local corporations which polluted the ten mile long creek that runs through Cahokia and Sauget Illinois now called ‘Dead Creek.” Moreover, this research attempts to locate the etiological factors based on state/corporate crime literature. This includes exploring state-initiated and/or state facilitated actions by the State of Illinois, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and corporations as Cerro, Monsanto and Solutia.
