Abstract:
|
Using a meta-analysis, the present study aimed to identify the trends in crisis communication research published in two main journals in public relations during 1975-2006. The study examined various aspects of the potential changes in crisis communication research, including the number of articles published, research subjects, theoretical framework, and application of methodology. Key findings included that there was a drastic growth of published articles with increasingly diversified research subjects in recent years, while the theoretical and methodological developments seemed to be relatively slow. Based on the results, we suggested calling for more research that is more theory-driven or more oriented on theory-building, as well as applying a broader range of methodological approach that allow scholars to validate and generalize their findings in crisis communication research. |
