Abstract:

This panel will discuss data obtained from (1) questionnaires administered to students in a predominantly African-American university, and (2) data obtained from questionnaires administered to a composite sample of African-American community residents about police-citizen encounters in two mid-sized cities on the East Coast. Topics addressed in this research include zero tolerance policing, racial profiling, victim assistance, domestic violence, use of force, and arrest practices.
