Publication Type: Symposium Paper Abstract: A private foundation provided funds to create the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction to promote partnerships between the School of Education and Barksdale Reading Institute and school districts. This center will begin a newly created Master's of Literacy Education degree program, will provide preservice teachers with more enhanced methods and field experiences related to literacy instruction, will provide schools districts and after school programs with tutoring services for struggling readers, and will provide school districts with access to professional development programs for teachers and administrators in the area of literacy instruction. |
