Abstract:
|
The paper presents the results of a comparison of a traditional dichotomous measure of post-message exposure conversation with a revised-item conversation measure. Historically, many researchers have measured conversation about health campaign messages by asking a simple yes/no question. This measurement approach fails to capture other important interpersonal communication variables such as frequency and valence. The revised-item conversation measure includes frequency, modality, valence, and content. Results of a preliminary study indicate that the revised-item measure provides more in-depth information about conversations about health messages held in the week after exposure to two HIV/AIDS public service announcements. |
