Abstract:

Studies indicate comparable rates of sexual assault among African-American and Caucasian women. However, African-American women are less likely to disclose the assault. This literature review examines the barriers to disclosure for African-American women, e.g., economic status, fear of white racism, and the damaging effects of unsuccessful disclosure by others.
