Publication Type: Invited Paper Abstract: This presentation examines the struggle to implement Black History into the school curricula by examining a controversial Black History program in Louisiana. The presentation introduces a new concept for approaching Black education called critical black pedagogy in education which draws from the works of Carter G. Woodson, Elijah Muhammad, Paulo Freire, James Banks, Sonia Nieto, Malauna Karenga and others. |
