distinctiveness in the context of Greenlawn High School. Vigilantes like Meg Rory and Judith consciously rejected the highly-limiting feminine norms that prevailed at Greenlawn High School. As Meg noted members of the Vigilantes actively strove to avoid conforming to dominant feminine ideals. These young women not only forged innovative female identities but also organized themselves into a group devoted to challenging the patriarchal system.
