National Identity, Political Engagement, and Campaign Participation-A Case Study of Taiwan

Abstract | Word Stems | Keywords | Association | Citation | Get this Document | Similar Titles

Abstract:

Taiwan's national identity is unique, diverse, important, and an urgent task for the people in Taiwan. In this paper, national identity is treated as a latent variable and used self-identity and attitudes toward China to measure this vague concept. Besides, rational choice theory is used for people in Taiwan to "choose" their shallow national identity. Also, this paper is testing the relationship between economic confidence and consolidated democracy to national identity.
