Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Abstract: Spirited debate has been generated over the nature of the political advertising that has been put forward during presidential election cycles. Using content analysis, a comparative examination of the candidates' advertisements in 2000, 2004, and 2008 will be undertaken. The goal of the project is to assess the content of the advertisements with an eye to better understanding the evolution of the advertising generated by the campaigns themselves. Some have argued that negative advertising is becoming more prevalent. Is this true or not? |
