| 1. Marichal, Jose. "The Role of Frames in Promoting Diversity at Public Universities" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the The Midwest Political Science Association, Palmer House Hilton, Chicago, Illinois, Apr 20, 2006 <Not Available>. 2009-11-20 <http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p138188_index.html>Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Abstract: Research on university diversity issues tends to focus on cataloguing best practices, identifying independent variables associated with student access, or examining the effectiveness of affirmative action. While these are important research streams, this work focus on the decision-making process at public universities rather than its outcomes. Using data from 41 interviews with faculty, staff, and administrators at four public, research-I universities, this paper will examine the different framings of diversity that emerge within institutional settings. |
