Abstract: A review of the literature revealed a paucity of research that examined the relationship between teachers’ and students’ learning. This study examined effects of my coaching on the teacher’s pedagogy, her communication with her students, and instructional changes she implemented. The results of this study indicated that the coaching influenced the teacher's and students’ classroom discourse.

Abstract: Mathematics coaches are becoming a staple of reform initiatives in large, urban districts. An in-depth understanding of various models can eventually lead to selection and anticipation of effects in a given school system. Understanding the models and the variance when embedded within different settings, will help inform decisions about the role of coaches. This proposal describes a comparative study of coaching models in two urban districts attempting improvement in mathematics.
