| 1. Esquibel, Catriona. "Entre dos Luces: A performance" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Studies Association, <Not Available>. 2009-11-30 <http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p114499_index.html>Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Abstract: Rather than a formal presentation, I will perform a scene—“Entre dos Luces”—from my play "Familia is a Story We Make Up." The play depicts jotería from small town New Mexico to the San Francisco Bay Area (and back again), who are related by, if nothing else, “time, neighborhood, and queerness.” The “Entre dos Luces” is a twilight dialogue between Carmen Tafoya and Ramón Urioste, who both identify as “femme,” and the way their identities and desires have been shaped by location and loss. The role of Carmen will be played by Catrióna Rueda Esquibel. The role of Ramón will be played by a Special Guest. |

| 2. Siff, Stephen. "Selling LSD: Clare Boothe and Henry Luce and coverage of LSD in Time, 1954 - 1968" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, The Renaissance, Washington, DC, Aug 08, 2007 Online <PDF>. 2009-11-30 <http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p202932_index.html>Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript Abstract: For more than a decade before it was uniformly criminalized in the United States, LSD was the subject of numerous stories in Time and Life magazines. Archival evidence suggests that the extensive and largely positive coverage of LSD in these magazines reflected the beliefs of publisher Henry Luce and his wife, Clare Booth, who were recreational users. Documentary evidence also suggests that the publisher exerted his influence in favor of positive coverage of the drug. |
