Abstract: An anthropoid coffin inscribed for the stoalist Nes-Min was acquired by the National Museum of Belgrade in 1888. Two bands of vertical inscriptions are centered on the coffin lid. The text is a further example of Book of the Dead 191 “Spell for bringing the soul to the body,” which is also classified as belonging to the Books of Glorifications of Osiris. The spell is quite rare, and it is generally used on Books of the Dead or coffins of the Persian and Ptolemaic Periods. This paper will discuss the coffin, its inscriptions and its probable provenance.

Abstract: How is political trust best measured? Researchers have long been relying on the commonly used NES measure that asks, “How much of the time do you think you can trust the government in Washington to do what is right just about always, most of the time, only some of the time, or almost never?” This paper questions the effectiveness of this measurement strategy, and develops an alternative political trust survey question that expands the response options and offers a bipolar choice set. Using original data collected in a two-wave public opinion survey, this alternative political trust measure is compared to the standard NES item. Responses to the different items are compared to one another as well as key correlates of political trust. The findings suggest that the alternative measure does not out-perform the traditional NES measure. The two measures perform in much the same manner in both the bivariate and multivariate setting. Moreover, the traditional four-point NES measure does a slightly better job of predicting engagement in certain political activities.
