1. Gomez-Vilchis, Ricardo. "From the PRI Hegemony to the Post-PRI Era: Presidential Approval in the Mexican Transition" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association 67th Annual National Conference, The Palmer House Hilton, Chicago, IL, Apr 02, 2009 Online <APPLICATION/PDF>. 2009-12-03 <http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p364108_index.html>
Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript

Abstract: People’s perception of the responsiveness of the political system affects the way that citizens approve the president. In an autocratic regime such as the PRI hegemony (93-00), citizens tend to focus their attention on economic problems such as unemployment when they evaluate the president. In the emerging Mexican democracy (01-06), political problems such as crime and corruption become more important when people examine the president’s performance. This finding can be explained by a change in citizens’ expectations of the president, the salience of crime as a national issue in Mexican politics since the mid-1990s, and the strong association in citizens’ mind between the old PRI regime and corruption.

2. Cauffman, Elizabeth., Kimonis, Eva., Dmitrieva, Julia. and Monahan, Kathryn. "A Multi-method Assessment of Juvenile Psychopathy: Comparing the Predictive Utility of the PCL:YV, YPI, and NEO-PRI" Paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Psychology - Law Society, TBA, San Antonio, TX, Mar 05, 2009 <Not Available>. 2009-12-03 <http://www.allacademic.com/meta/p296116_index.html>
Publication Type: Conference Paper/Unpublished Manuscript
Review Method: Peer Reviewed
Abstract: The present study examines the relation between three approaches to assessing psychopathy: a clinical interview (PCL:YV), a self-report measure (YPI), and a personality-based approach (NEO), and tests how each measure predicts short- (6-12 months) and long-term (3-years) offending among juvenile offenders. The three measures show modest overlap (r’s=.26 to .36); however, whether or not one is identified as psychopathic varies across measures. Measures predicted short-term but not long-term offending. Thus, high scores on psychopathy are indicative of short-term risk, but given the little overlap across the measures, these measures may not be valid for making legal or clinical treatment decisions.
