Abstract: This paper describes data gathered in guided self-help groups in Finland. We explore the group effect on depressed women's 'individual' and 'social' feelings over three time periods. Members became empowered to believe in their potential as social individuals through group participation. They altered their feelings about themselves and their environment. |
