Abstract: The framing of Social Dominance Theory (SDT: Sidanius and Pratto, 1999) is discussed in this paper according to essentialist beliefs a sample of young and adult people living in the Sardinia island (Italy) has shown. The complex relationship among Social Dominance Orientation (Pratto et al., 1994), Entitativity (Lickel et al.., 2000) and other psychological constructs are discussed through an empirical model that put into question the perceived essentialist perception of people to belong to ??identity place-specific? categories and the rating of their being high and low dominators as main result. Additional specific findings will be discussed according the mainstream of most recent literature on SDT.
